Dream work, and why we need our dreams held by others?
A dear friend once said, “It takes many psyches to know psyche.” This is not only true because of the infinite depth and complexity of psyche, it is also true because our protective ego structures make it very hard to see our shadows, biases and assumptions, to apprehend our own blind spots. Our protective ego structures will do almost anything to protect themselves from the kind of change (healing, growth, and soul’s emergence) that our dreams invite by surrendering to and experiencing the deep material of our bodies and psyche. And so the dream delivers its magic in symbolic language, encrypted in images, sensations, actions, associations, and more, that our day world ego has a very hard time seeing for itself.
As a dream worker, I have learned the methods the ego uses to avoid real change, and I have a nose for trap doors that will invite profound change and awakening. I work simultaneously with ego and it’s parts, as well as the will of the body and psyche to heal, and soul in its longing to emerge. It’s my job to flood the dream field with curiosity, to bring light into dark places, to companion you into places you might not think to go, or to be at your side to confront things you are certain you can’t.
